Thanks to the contributions and support of the community, the Puerto Aventuras Library is now reopen after two months of remodeling and reorganization. The library is now approximately twice the size it was, and the volunteer librarians are hard at work cataloging hundreds of new books to add into the library's current collection of over 10,000 Fiction, Non-Fiction, Young Adult and Young Reader books.
A doorway from the basketball court allows access to the new Adult Fiction area, so it is no longer necessary to go through the school courtyard to enter the library. This room now houses the English Fiction, an expanded Adult Spanish Fiction section and a new section for German and French books.
Non-Fiction, Junior Adult and Young Reader's books remain in the previous library area, along with several couches and a desk area for quiet reading and study. Our Non-Fiction collection has been separated by language, so it is easy to find the book you need in either English or Spanish.
Weather permitting, Book Sale books will be on the Book Sale cart outside the exterior door and visible from the parking lot during library hours. We hope this will mean the library is a lot easier for new members to find.
Riviera Maya residents and guests of all ages are welcome to join the library. A lifetime membership costs just $100 pesos or $10 dollars.
The Volunteer Librarians invite you to stop by and see the changes for yourself.
Current hours are Monday through Friday, 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
