Budha Gardens Spa, Akumal Review

Budha Gardens Spa has been around for many years. It was located next to the Hotel Akumal Caribe pool. It is now located just inside the Akumal arch; if you go through the arch and bear to your right, it is just past the pink store, MexicArte. Budha Gardens Spa has taken over the space of several of the Hotel Akumal Caribe bungalows. They have created the most gorgeous, serene, garden setting with lush tropical plants, bamboo and statues. You start to unwind the moment you wander onto the property.

I have been meaning to go to Budha Gardens Spa for years! I am appalled when I realize how many missed opportunities I have had. It just seemed like every time something would come up. From now on, this will be a regular part of my trips!

I arrived early and had a chance to talk to Lorinda about her philosophy and the fact that she personally trains her staff to meet her standard of services. She told me that, “Your business means a lot to us, the families of Budha Gardens Spa. There is not much left around here with small boutique spas, as the huge hotels have taken over, so everyone's business will help small, local businesses which is an important part of sustainability. We do our best because it's what we love to do.” She also explained that Budha Gardens uses the finest of natural products and several are for sale.

When I asked her if she missed moving off the beach, she said it was time and explained that even though they are off the beach, the garden setting is a much more peaceful location. She smiled, remembering several massages she gave with the sounds of  children at the pool playing Marco Polo. Now all you hear are soothing sounds and music.
