"A very exciting, new and refreshingly un-commercialized soft adventure eco-tour SELVAMAYA, has recently been added to the many great eco-excursions that we all love in the Riviera Maya. The SelvaMaya tour begins in Akumal and you will go the short distance on the jungle road to Rancho Santa Cruz either on horseback, van or bicycle. This is a private ranch and can only be visited by signing up for the SelvaMaya tour--it is not open to the public.
Donning hardhats, carrying waterproof flashlights (all provided by your hosts) and wearing your bathing suit, your SelvaMaya adventure begins with a short walk through the jungle with your guide. You then descend into a dry cavern of many rooms filled with majestic stalagtites and stalagmites and will follow your guide walking among these ancients formations. Your pathway then brings you to caverns filled with water where you will swim in a magnificent cenote, swing on the rope swing from a platform that has been built in the cenote and have the time of your life.
After leaving the caverns you will be served a delicious lunch of grilled chicken, guacamole, grilled potatoes and onions, rice, beans and soft drinks while seated in a jungle setting under the palapa at Rancho Santa Cruz. This is a wonderful soft adventure activity for your whole family and you leave from the center of Akumal for this excursion.
The cost of the SelvaMaya tour is $35.00 per person without lunch and $50.00 per person with lunch and for a minimum of 4 persons. Credit cards and cash are accepted as payment and reservations must be made in advance. You can sign up for this eco-adventure at MexicoArte, the hot pink gift shop just past the arches in the center of Akumal or by emailing Nayeli.
