Sac-Be and Tulum Accommodations Are Teaming Up!

Sac-Be has been providing practical tourist information and exciting news stories about the Riviera Maya for the past 10 years! In the beginning, Sac-Be was a printed newsletter with maps and essential info about the area and has grown to become a valuable online portal. Tulum Accommodations was created as an online brochure for clients booking accommodations through Extreme Control Kiteboarding and Paddleboarding School. After six years of providing quality service, Extreme Control is now the #1 attraction in Tulúm on TripAdvisor and is proud to have launched the new project, Tulum Accommodations.

Sac-Be and Tulum Accommodations are joining forces to offer a great opportunity to get your information out to a wider audience. Take advantage of all this amazing exposure with our basic package deal, which includes advertising on the two Web sites. Contact us to learn more!

What's New

J.Lo's music video, filmed in the area, has been released.

J.Lo wasn't the only one having fun that day. According to Lynda Day, "Marcy and Memo Essy put together an incredible beach party on Sunday 4/3/11. There were great friends and food in splendid array on Xcacel Beach. We couldn't have ordered a more perfect day. It is possible that the entertainment Marcy arranged for us had something to do with it. Jennifer Lopez and crew had reserved the major portion of the beach to film a video. There was an incredible young man rising from the sea in his white pants. J.Lo was discernible in her sparkly, silver dress and we had ringside seats. Everyone agreed that this is something we should do with regularity. Some of our friends couldn't join us for lack of parking space. All I can say is 'You should have been there' to all those with the Akumal spirit! BEACH PARTY BASH."

Change in Women in Wellness - This year's retreat will be held in Charleston, S.C. We will bring the retreat back to the Yucatán in 2012. We are excited about a new venue for this year.

Congratulations, Akumal! Thank you for the donations. We are pleased to announce that the entire North Akumal road WILL BE BRICKED, with just a little more support. Read more about it in The Akumalian.

Om Hotel

OM Hotel and Restaurant - by Lydia Linton Pontius

Tulum Beach

Cabañas Tulum and El Bistro At Ziggy Beach - by Lydia Linton Pontius
It was dark when we pulled in to the Cabañas Tulum parking lot. The staff was so gracious; they said they had been concerned when the sun set and we had not yet arrived. Not one, not two, but three of the staff were there to help us unload our car and, before our luggage even got to the reception area, we each had a delightful welcome rum drink in our hands ...

Christmas Tree Worms

Lol Ka - A Hidden Treasure - by Barb Eller
At Lol Ka there is a church that was built on top of a Maya ruin in the late 1700s, and the paintings above the altar are the last-known paintings done by a Maya. We asked David if we could join his group the next time he went there. Imagine our surprise when he told us he would be able to take us in a couple of weeks ...

Calakmul to Tulúm – The Adventure Continues - by Lydia Linton Pontius
We woke early and had a nice relaxing morning at Puerta Calakmul. We were not yet ready to leave this amazing resort. The birds were waking and starting their day so we took the opportunity to walk around and take it all in. The sun slowly permeated the thick trees and the coolness of the dew made for a beautiful start to the day ...

Flamingos in Ria Lagartas

Ría Lagartos Trip! - by Marieke White with Akumal Direct
Last weekend Gerardo Orozco from Akumal Dive Center suggested that we all go on a day trip to the Ría Lagartos Biosphere Reserve. We set off early and made our way across to the colonial town of Valladolid. This is the third largest town in the Yucatán and is home to approximately 50,000 people ...

Ivan diving
Ivan's First Dive - by Natalie Novak
My husband's first dive experience was horrible. It did not matter that he had wanted to try scuba diving for as long as he could remember. It did not matter that he had been a competitive swimmer in high school, or that he worked in water sports and rescue at the time. The big dive operation in the all-inclusive hotel where he worked had left out something that no amount of comfort in the water, or great physical conditioning could overcome: They never taught him how to equalize his ears, in English or in Spanish. They had explained how to do it only in German ...

What Is The Future for Real Estate in Mexico – Doom and Gloom? - by Enrique (Henry) Saldana
Sales are down, rentals are slow, inventories are high, banks are toughening their lending requirements, consumer confidence is low, and these are just some of the present scenarios the real estate industry in Mexico is facing today.

Here's Henry's opinion of the effects of bin Laden's death on the local economy.
