Up & Down the Coast

Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Hanukkah to all who celebrate these wonderful holidays!

We had the most amazing working trip to Akumal. There will be many stories, updates and reviews coming out of this trip. Looks like a lot of businesses spend the low season doing some really great things.

As a response to some of the most recent renovations, each month we will acknowledge those who are taking steps to help make their community and businesses more eco-friendly. To start the ball rolling, this month we would like to give kudos to:
Hotel Akumal Caribe for renovating their pool and making it saline.
Gynn'AK and the Akumal Lionfish Hunters, for working diligently to control the lionfish population and serving them in such a tasty way.
Heather Froeming, No Mas Plastik for all she is doing to help rid the world of plastics and by promoting recycling in Tulum.
Hotel Cabañas Tulum for the renovating their property with the environment in mind.

If you know of someone who is making a difference to protect paradise, please let us know.

Pets of the Month

Kabuki

Kabuki is a gorgeous brindle hound mix looking for a peaceful forever home. Kabuki is about 3 years old and needs a home where she can either become a part of a family or bond with a single person who can give her a lot of love. She is shy and prefers not too much commotion; she would love to lounge on a nice dog bed and enjoy life. She's a lovely dog with a lot of love to give; she just needs safety and a calm place. She's about 45 pounds and even more beautiful in person than the photo depicts. Please consider giving her a forever home! Visit Tierra de Animales.

Palmomita

Palomita (popcorn in English) is a very pretty little girl that has lovely spotted fur, and one ear that looks like it was dipped in ink! She was found in the jungle in May 2013 in very bad shape, but is doing extremely well now. Palomita (approximately 2 years old) is very confident, playful and loves to be the center of attention! Is there a place in your heart and home for this beautiful girl? For more information about Palomita, or any of the dogs at Playa Animal Rescue, please contact Pat at pat@playaanimalrescue.org.

Trooper
Obama

Trooper and Obama (2 months old) were rescues from Mahahual; both were in a really bad way. They are now recuperating at Coco's. We would love for them to be adopted together! Visit Coco's Cat Rescue to learn more.
