Tom is a resident of Wernersville, Penn., a small town about 1˝ hours northwest of Philadelphia. He and his wife, Maggie, have one son and two granddaughters. He enjoys travel, sports, snorkeling and spoiling his granddaughters.

Tom discovered Akumal in 2005 and quickly fell in love with the area and the people. It wasn't long before he discovered the importance of the area to endangered sea turtles and became active with Centro Ecológico Akumal to help with their preservation. He has been a volunteer Tortuguero since 2007 and has extensive experience working with the turtles. Tom is a valued and welcome member of the team every time he visits, regularly being trusted to handle large sections of beach for night patrol alone. When in Akumal and not on turtle duty, Tom enjoys snorkeling, visiting with friends, taking in the local culture and simply enjoying the beach.

A quote from Tom: “I am happy to join the Sac-Be team and to have the opportunity to share what I have learned about the plight of endangered sea turtles. Education is the key to reversing the damage Man has done to these gentle creatures if we are to save them.”
