Our small town of Puerto Aventuras has become a ghost town. People have taken the last flights out to head home, wherever that may be. In the meantime, everyone is doing all they can locally to help each other and our outlying communities, whose people will be very hard hit by this economic crisis long after the medical crisis has been eradicated.
I want to thank all the people who have rallied and joined forces and done so much to help organize, create and share ways we can help each other. Here are just a few things being done locally, and please feel free to add anything more in the comments below.
Here are a few options to help people at risk in your local communities! For those in the USA, the peso is now at 25 pesos to the USD, so your donation goes a long way!!
Locals in Puerto Aventuras are working with Seaside Rotary and Latitude 20 restaurant to set up and run a soup kitchen in the poblado. Other locals are collecting dog food, cleaning supplies and personal care products for distribution across the highway. Please contact us for more information.

A wonderful grass roots initiative has been organized by Jade Duhamel here in PA to buy and create dispensas to people in need in the poblado and Puerto Maya. Each dispensa costs just 200 pesos. Donations can be made by deposit at Oxxo to 4213 1660 7332 1592 or via Paypal, using the email address jonathanlibermanneyra@hotmail.com (PayPal charges a small commission per transaction) Please send a screenshot of the receipt/transaction to +52 984 179 3152 on whatsapp to help with accounting. [A โdispensaโ is a basic ration of food and other supplies. The ones being made in PA will contain 900g frijoles, 900g rice, 500g lentils, 400g oats, 6 cans of vegetables, 1kg of maseca flour, 870g oil, 1kg sugar, 3 packs of 180g pasta, 1lt of vinegar to disinfect and 2 hand soaps.]

The Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen Seaside will be providing essential food and dispensas to at risk families in the community as identified by the organizers of the schools, community centers and charitable organizations that we have been supporting for years with our feeding programs. Additional funds will be focused on helping as many people as we can in a meaningful way. Please click here to make a donation. No amount is too small. Today was a big day. City Club and Sams were well stocked and we were able to make a large purchase to support a local community. The delivery location cannot be divulged in order to maintain the security of our ambassadors as they do their best to get food and supplies into the homes that need it the most. Tulum
Donate to the Tulum Food Bank to help those in crisis! Some caring residents have partnered with Tulum 104.7 & DIF Municipal, and will be collecting and distributing food to locals in need in Tulum and other nearby neighborhoods! They need MONETARY donations to buy non-perishable food items. Recipients will receive a bag of groceries intended to support a family of 4 for 1 week. Click here to donate.

Hekab Be library in Akumal is organising boxes of food for people who are struggling financially in the Akumal Pueblo. Many people are losing their working hours and jobs, as tour operators, local business, and hotels close or reduce staff due to COVID19.
